Pölzl Peter (PöP)

Peter Pölzl, known by his artist name PöP, was born in Styria in 1962. He discovered his passion for photography at the age of ten – a first glimpse through the viewfinder opened up a whole new world to him. This early exploration of light, perspective, and mood became the foundation of his artistic work.

In 1990 he turned to painting. Oil and acrylic became his new mediums, and as a self-taught artist, he developed his own distinctive style. At the same time, he continually sought exchange with professional artists and attended numerous courses, including auditing classes at the Graz Academy of Fine Arts under Professor Erwin M. Kopetzky, who had a lasting influence on him.

His focus is on acrylic painting, particularly abstract expression. For PöP, color is not just material – it is emotion, energy, harmony, and sometimes even quiet rebellion. His works thrive on subtle transitions, bold compositions, and an intense sense of color balance.

In 2010 he moved to Italy, a move that reopened and revitalized his art. The Mediterranean light, the colors of the landscape, and the new cultural environment became a source of fresh inspiration for him.

PöP has already exhibited his work in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Italy. His works have resonated throughout Europe and gained new owners in numerous countries – a testament to the power of his color palettes and the universal language of his abstract art.

For PöP, color harmony, emotion, and the freedom of the viewer are paramount. His paintings are not meant to explain, but to create space – space for personal interpretation, for one's own feelings, for what remains unspoken between the colors.
